Weekend Buys 4/4/14
“Each weekend I recommend three books. Some are books I’ve read and some are books I want to read. Some have been written by my friends. Or maybe I’ll just post a good deal I saw online. Just a little something to expose you to the kind of books that interest me.”
Here's a deal for you right away: The Magic Kingdom of Landover Volume 1, the first three books in the beloved series by Terry Brooks, is just $1.99 on ebook. That's pretty freaking awesome. This includes Magic Kingdom for Sale SOLD, The Black Unicorn, and Wizard at Large. I'll confess that I've only read the first one (and many years ago), but I enjoyed it immensely. Definitely worth picking up all three for such a low price.
Thought I'd throw you all a little changeup this week with some YA. Vodnik by Bryce Moore has come very highly recommended to me by several close friends, and indeed it has 4.7/5 stars on Amazon with 30 reviews. Quite impressive. If you like YA (which come on, most adult fantasy readers do), or if you're looking for something to get for a younger friend or relation grab a copy of Vodnik. I met Bryce for the first time many years before either of us had sold a book and he's really a very cool guy. Can grow a hearty beard as well.
The Darwin Elevator by Jason Hough is another book that I bought forever ago and still haven't gotten to. Jason is one of my Taco Brethren, and all around cool cool guy and everyone I've talked to about his book has loved it. Damn, just check out the names on his blurb list on Amazon and I'm sure you'll be impressed.
